Recommended standing committees & responsibilities

Finance Committee

• Create the upcoming fiscal year budget
• Present budget recommendations to the board
• Monitor implementation of the approved budget
• Recommend budget revisions
• Recommend appropriate policies for the charter school’s assets

Academic Excellence Committee

• Work with the school leader and leadership team to define academic excellence (the goals)
• Ensure all board members know the charter promises that were made to the community and authorizer
• Devise clear and consistent measures to monitor the goals

Governance Committee

• Evaluate the health of the organization
• Recruit, nominate, orient, and train new members
• Evaluate the board in accordance with the bylaws of the school as well as established policies

Development Committee

• Raise additional funding (other than grants) to support the school’s mission
• Recruit additional human resources to support the school’s mission
